Hi everyone,

The biology department can hire qualified undergraduate students to serve as IAs (Instructional Assistants). If you have been thinking about making a little money, getting valuable teaching (leadership) experience, helping your fellow students succeed, and reviewing some important biological concepts then you might be interested in these opportunities.

1. Dr. Abel is looking for IAs for BIO 2440 – Principles of Microbiology. This is the non-majors microbiology course that is required by some majors on campus (pre-nursing, nutrition etc.) See attached flyer for details.

2. If you are an ESS major and you have taken (and done well in) BIO 2430 and either AT2400 or AT3400, and would like to serve as an IA for our new Human Anatomy (BIO 3425) course, please email me (mb79) .

My name is Dr. Virginia Kekahuna, I’m an optometrist in Kyle. Over the years, I’ve hired several students from Texas State. Currently, XXXXX and XXXXX are working at my office – I believe you’ve worked with both of them in the past. I’m reaching out to you to see if you could share a job opening at my optometry clinic with any pre-medicine groups you advise. For you to know a little more about our office, we are the official eye care provider of Texas State Athletics and examine TSXT athletes who need vision care. We provide routine and medical eye care services at our office, in addition to sports vision, neurorehabilitation and vision therapy services. This is unique in our area, as most optometry offices do not offer these services.

OPT APP is a program designed to support Pre-Optometry students with preparing a competitive application, effectively navigating the admissions process, and successfully transitioning into Optometry School.
