All,

Please see email below about a critical need for volunteers to help with COVID testing our new freshmen. I have consulted with the Director of Housing and Residence Life and they have confirmed to me that students can volunteer to help with this testing. If you are in San Marcos and would like to gain some community service hours and help keep our campus safe, please complete the Sign-Up form via the link in the email below.

Thanks,

Dr. Banta

Subject: We Need Your Help! – Staffing the Testing Verification Event for On-Campus Move-In

To: Texas State University Faculty and Staff

From: Dr. Cynthia L. Hernandez, Vice President for Student Affairs

Mr. Kyle Estes, Interim Director, Department of Housing and Residential Life

Following recent guidance from our university’s chief medical officer in response to increased cases of COVID-19 caused by the Delta variant, students living in on-campus housing and Bobcat Village Apartments will be required to complete a COVID-19 test prior to move-in to help keep themselves and our community safe. A drive-through event will provide students an opportunity to present their negative test result prior to moving into on-campus housing.

We have reached a critical point where we need to find more volunteers to assist with this event (August 15-17), especially for the Monday and Tuesday time slots.
Volunteers can sign up online using the Testing Verification Event Sign-Up form.

The drive-through event will be held outside in the Aquarena Springs parking lot. Students and families will remain in their vehicles. Staff will be assigned a station and perform the following: help directs cars into one of the three traffic lanes (station 1), ask student if they have their Student ID and Test Results ready for review (station 2), verify date of test was Aug 8th or later (station 3), have students swipe ID card and provide them with verification ticket (station 4), or catch all issues resolution and sending students for rapid test (station 5).

We appreciate you being willing to give up some of your weekend and/or workday to assist. As always, please speak with your supervisor about your intentions before signing up to help. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at DHRLDirector or call 512-245-4610.

Thank you for your commitment to our Bobcat community.
