Live from Your Living Room: Our Next Medical School Expo

Pre-med students,

See information below about an upcoming virtual expo for osteopathic medical schools. This is a good way to learn about what osteopathic medicine is if you don’t know and get good advice about preparing for medical school in general. Note that the times for the expo listed are Eastern time, not Central.

Hi Dr. Banta!

Tonight, instead of a zoom meeting, Medical Explorers will be hosting an in-person meeting at 6:30 pm at the First Baptist Church on McCarty Lane teaching students how to take patient vitals such as blood pressure and blood glucose. We are taking multiple steps to keep it as safe as possible for everyone, including only allowing a maximum of 10 individuals per room, taking people’s temperatures upon arrival, and requiring masks for all attendees. The training is open to anyone who is interested, and we can offer anyone a ride from campus if necessary.

There is a preregistration for this, here is the link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0f44a9a92ba1fc1-vitals

If anyone has any questions, they are welcome to email us at metxstate

Accreditation Statement

The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Physician Assistant Program has applied for Accreditation – Provisional from the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Physician Assistant Program anticipates matriculating its first class in January 2021, pending achieving Accreditation – Provisional status at the September 2020ARC-PA meeting. Accreditation – Provisional is an accreditation status granted when the plans and resource allocation, if fully implemented as planned, of a proposed program that has not yet enrolled students appear to demonstrate the program’s ability to meet the ARC-PA Standards or when a program holding accreditation-provisional status appears to demonstrate continued progress in complying with the Standards as it prepares for the graduation of the first class (cohort) of students.

In the event Accreditation-Provisional is not granted, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Physician Assistant Program will not admit students in January 2021. All applicants for the 2021 admissions cycle will be notified of the ARC-PAs decision on assigning the UMHB’s PA Program Accreditation-Provisional following their meeting in September 2020. Additional information on accreditation is available at http://www.arc-pa.org/accreditation/. The CASPA and UMHB graduate application fees will not be refunded.
