Please see information below about the one day Admissions Symposium that Baylor College of Medicine is offering on Saturday, April 17. This is open to current and former students who believe they meet the criteria. It is free and will be offered remotely this year so you do not have to travel to Houston to attend.

Note that they want to attract students interested in ALL their programs, which includes their medical, PA, genetic counseling, orthotics and prosthetics, and biomedical PhD programs.

Baylor College of Medicine (Houston) will host its Sixth Annual Diversity Admissions Symposium on Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. via virtual conference platform. The deadline to apply is March 19, 2021. Selection for this event is based primarily on the applicants response to the two essay question prompts – not grades or standardized test scores.

The purpose of the event is to introduce undergraduate students and postbaccalaureate/graduate students from diverse backgrounds, including underrepresented in medicine and science, first-generation, non-traditional, and sexual orientation and gender minority groups, to Baylor College of Medicine as well as support and encourage these students to pursue a medical, health professions or biomedical sciences careers. The event will feature panel discussions and workshops from Baylor student leaders and faculty and staff involved with admissions and diversity, equity and inclusion, including:

  • Becoming a Competitive Applicant
  • Improving your CV/Resume
  • Writing a “Standout” Personal Statement
  • Making the Most of the Interview Visit
  • Finding Your Allies as an UR/UiM in the Biomedical Sciences and Health Professions
  • Mock Admissions Interviews – for select attendees applying for the upcoming admissions cycle; slots will be based upon availability of faculty and staff interviewers

Please share this information with all aspiring or current pre-medical, pre-health professions, or biomedical sciences students or recent graduates who are interested in one of Baylor’s master’s or doctoral degree programs – medical school, biomedical sciences PhD studies, physician assistant program, genetic counseling program, or orthotics and prosthetics program.
